General Summary
Under the supervision of the Prosecuting Attorney or Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, performs general secretarial and legal support functions. Activities include data entry and management, preparing and processing legal documents, and providing general clerical support such as answering the telephone, opening and routing mail, and providing customer service to those who call, write, or visit the office.
Starting pay is dependent on an applicant's relevant experience.

Minimum QualificationsEducation
:
High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree or greater preferred.
Experience
:
Familiarity with the criminal law process or Michigan Trial Court System and/or experience as a legal secretary is preferred.
Other Requirements
:
Attention to detail, ability to multi-task, comfort and proficiency with computers, willingness and desire to learn, ambitious, ability to work without direct supervision or constant direction, ability to maintain confidentiality, and ability to redirect to task after disruption.
FLSA Status
:
Non-exempt.

- Ability to work from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to use a computer for the majority of the workday.
- Ability to travel to, and operate, copy/fax machine.
- Ability to assist visitors at a service window.

- Works in office setting.
- Exposure to, and interaction with, individuals charged and/or convicted of a variety of criminal offenses, victims of crime, members of the public, lawyers, and law enforcement officers.
