Utility Locator – USIC

Apply to join the USIC team as a Utility Locator. If you enjoy outdoor work, are quality‑conscious, safety‑focused, and thrive in a fast‑paced environment, this role may be for you.

Compensation
: $20.00 hourly.

Your Responsibilities as a Locator:

  • Correctly, safely, and efficiently locate underground utilities, including telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems.
  • Thoroughly search for underground utilities in a designated area, accurately marking the location, completing documentation, and photographing each locate.

This is a full‑time, daytime position. A 48‑hour turnaround on many locates means work may extend to the day after holidays, weekends, and on‑call shifts (including nights). Overtime, weekend shifts, and on‑call shifts (including nights and weekends) are required as needed.

Requirements:

  • Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions; previous outdoor experience is a plus.
  • Computer proficiency
  • Available to work overtime, weekends, and on‑call shifts as needed.
  • Pass a drug screen (safety‑sensitive position)
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Ability to work in confined spaces; walk, bend, and lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to distinguish colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities.
  • Ability to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, maps, and prints.
  • Clear communication with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.
