At Forvis Mazars , we view state taxes as an opportunity to save. We look for opportunities for savings in the area of state and local taxes (SALT). Our SALT team has extensive training in tax accounting, tax law, compliance, audits, and economic development benefits, and experience with tax laws in many states. Our SALT solutions apply to sales and use taxes, income, and franchise taxes, property taxes, credits and incentives, and many more thorough understandings of multi-state sales & use taxes.

• Understand ing sales & use taxes
• Identify ing optimal filing options
• Analyz ing and review ing apportionment information
• Consistently identify ing engagement and operating opportunities for improvement and provid ing timely solutions and consultation
• Understand ing nexus and revenue sourcing issues
• Manag ing multiple concurrent engagements without disruption or loss of control and within scheduled deadlines
• Plan ning and research ing tax issues
• Manag ing multiple client relationships, billings, and resource needs
• Prepar ing technical memorandums
• Provid ing audit assistance
• Assist ing with state income tax compliance
• Assist ing in managing, developing, and coaching professional staff

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
• 5years or more of professional experience – public accounting experience is required, but the experience can include a combination of public accounting (tax) and/or industry
• CPA license or J.D. or L.L.M designation preferred

• Experience managing multiple client engagements
• Team and engagement management skills
• Innovative ideas to servicing clientele
• High-level analytical and reasoning skills
• Ability to meet the stringent deadlines of our clients
• Understanding of client service relationships and how to utilize firm resources to provide unmatched client service to existing clients
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Attention to detail without losing sight of the big picture

Pursuant to Illinois’ Equal Pay Act, the salary range displayed is for the Illinois market. The salary for this role will be based on the experience, education, and skill set of the individual for the position. Non-exempt/hourly positions will be eligible for time and half pay for employees that work over 40 hours in a workweek. Benefits are eligibility-based and could include group health plan benefits, 401(K), bonuses, profit-sharing contributions, flexible time off, and parental leave.
