Job Overview
We are a well‑known Charlotte employer with a national presence. Our client is hiring a contract Staff Accountant and you could be just the person they are looking for.
Compensation$35 per hour.
Responsibilities- Manage and execute all accounts payable functions, including vendor setup, payment processing, and tax reporting.
- Manage all accounts receivable functions, including customer setup, invoicing, collections, and applying payments.
- Review and approve employee expense reports and corporate card transactions for accuracy and policy compliance.
- Prepare, review, and post journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Lead monthly financial close activities, including bank reconciliations, reporting, and expense projections.
- Administer accounting and expense management systems (e.g., ) and help maintain efficient workflows.
- Support budget development and assist managers with expense detail requests.
- Train staff on business systems, processes, and financial policies.
- Maintain and update business office procedures to support operational effectiveness.
- Assist with annual external audits by preparing schedules and documentation.
- Support organization‑wide events or initiatives as needed.
- Take ownership of special projects and additional duties assigned by leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 4 years of professional experience in accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or business office administration.
- Hands‑on experience with AP/AR processing, journal entries, and bank reconciliations.
- Proficiency with accounting and expense reporting software (Sage Intacct, , or similar preferred).
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Capacity to multitask, prioritize, and adapt to changing needs.
- Dependable, professional, and committed to continuous learning.
- Willingness to support occasional travel, extended hours, or event‑related work as needed.
- Eligible for benefits when a full‑time employee (30+ weekly hours / 130+ monthly hours).
