About the Role

We are seeking a hands‑on Assistant Controller to support a rapidly growing, multi‑entity real estate organization with a portfolio of mobile home and senior communities across the Southeast. The company has experienced consistent, aggressive growth and continues to scale its asset base year over year.

This role is a key hire and will serve as the day‑to‑day leader of the accounting function, allowing the Controller to shift focus toward strategic initiatives, acquisitions, and executive‑level responsibilities. There is a clear path for upward mobility as the organization continues to expand.

• Lead day‑to‑day accounting operations across multiple LLCs and properties
• Support month‑end and year‑end close, including reconciliations and review
• Provide hands‑on leadership to the accounting team (accountant and AP specialist), with additional hires expected as growth continues
• Serve as the primary in‑office accounting resource and escalation point
• Help refine and scale accounting processes to support rapid portfolio growth
• Assist with integration of newly acquired assets into existing accounting workflows
• Partner closely with the Controller to ensure operational execution and continuity

• 3–5+ years of accounting experience in a multi‑entity environment
• Experience with property management accounting strongly preferred
• Prior experience managing or mentoring a small team
• Comfortable rolling up sleeves and staying close to the work when needed
• Leadership‑minded but execution‑focused
• Coachable, steady, and patient; ambitious without being title‑driven
• Able to add value quickly with minimal ramp‑up
