Description
The Staff Accountant will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of Duncan-Parnell, Inc., and its subsidiaries’ (BuildingPoint South East and Ag Technologies) financial records, performing various accounting tasks such as reconciliations, journal entries, and financial analysis to support the organization’s financial operations and decision‑making processes.
Essential Functions and Duties- Active participant in the monthly close procedures for Duncan-Parnell, Inc., and its subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting.
- Analyze financial statements and make any necessary adjusting entries to ensure financial statement reliability.
- Handle all fleet journal entries for Duncan-Parnell, Inc., and its subsidiaries.
- Reconcile bank accounts for Duncan-Parnell and Ag Technologies daily to ensure cash accuracy and timely identification of discrepancies.
- Reconcile the prepaid asset portion of the Duncan-Parnell balance sheet to supporting schedules and general ledger on a monthly basis.
- Reconcile Ag Technologies balance sheet and prepare schedules to support account composition and completeness.
- Assist in maintaining the fixed assets ledger in accordance with company policy and GAAP.
- Work on various other needed month end reconciliations.
- Monitor and analyze cash activity to support management decision‑making.
- Assist in preparing supporting schedules for corporate income tax returns ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Assist with the preparation, filing and researching for sales and use tax, 1099 forms, and other routine tax compliance tasks as required.
- Perform additional duties as requested by the Controller.

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and preferably 2-3 years of prior experience in the Accounting field.
- Familiarity with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other relevant accounting standards.
- Intermediate to advanced skill in using MS Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
- Knowledge of accounting software and databases (e.g. Concur and Epicor Prophet 21).
- Must support and abide by Duncan-Parnell’s values, mission, policies, and practices.
- Must be able to perform critical physical tasks supporting this position's core functions, including sitting, standing, and walking.
