We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Staff Accountant to join our accounting team and support the company’s day-to-day accounting operations. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounting transactions, supporting month-end activities, and assisting with AP, AR, inventory, payroll, and account reconciliations in a fast-paced environment. This is a full-time, in-office position at our Charlotte, NC office;
remote work is not available.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in accuracy, organization, and keeping financial records clean, complete, and well-documented.
Responsibilities- Process and maintain Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) transactions
- Calculate and process driver payroll accurately and on a timely basis
- Record and review accounting transactions in Quick Books and other systems
- Reconcile bank, credit card, AP, AR, and other balance sheet accounts
- Maintain accurate inventory and financial records
- Review invoices, receipts, and supporting documentation for accuracy and proper coding
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in invoices, payments, receipts, payroll, and financial records
- Assist with month-end closing activities
- Maintain organized accounting files and supporting documentation
- Maintain accurate vendor records and supporting documentation
- Support the accounting team with account analysis and other accounting projects as needed
- Work with other departments to obtain and verify documentation needed for accounting and payroll transactions
- Ensure accounting records are complete, accurate, and properly supported
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent accounting experience
- 1–3 years of accounting experience preferred
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other standard computer applications
- Ability to work independently while also working effectively as part of a team
- Experience with Quick Books
- Previous experience in the transportation or trucking industry
- Experience working with Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
- Experience with driver payroll or transportation payroll
- Experience with AP, AR, account reconciliations, and month-end closing
This position is 100% on-site at our office in Charlotte, NC. Candidates must be able to commute to the office daily. Remote or hybrid arrangements are not available for this role.
Compensation$40,000 – $50,000 per year, depending on experience.
