OverviewOrrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Document Support Specialist
. This position could be based in any of our U.S. offices and we are open to 100% remote candidates.
The Document Support Specialist is responsible for creating, formatting, revising, and finalizing legal documents for the Structured Finance Department, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to firm standards. This role provides expert support for MS Office applications and legal-specific software, and acts as a resource for troubleshooting document issues and supporting workflow coordination.
Responsibilities- Create, edit, and format extremely lengthy legal documents, financial statements, flow charts, presentations, and letters using the latest versions of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Apply advanced formatting, styles, cross-references, Table of Contents, Table of Authorities, defined terms, and indexing as required.
- Convert documents between different software applications and formats; produce mail merge documents and fillable PDF forms.
- Troubleshoot and resolve document issues, including recovering/restoring corrupted files and resolving formatting problems.
- Provide document production support for closings and filings.
- Proofread and review documents for quality, accuracy, and correct formatting.
- Ensure confidentiality of sensitive and client-related information.
- Collaborate with team members including attorneys and supervisor to complete high-volume, time-sensitive assignments.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain and enhance skills.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 3+ years of experience as a document specialist in a law firm (strong preference), corporate, or professional services environment.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); strong knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and legal-specific document tools.
- Familiarity with legal terminology, procedures, and document standards.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong client-service orientation.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy; proofreading experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Willingness to work overtime or flexible schedules as required.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.

The expected salary range for this position is between:
- New York City, Silicon Valley, and San Francisco $70,000 - $100,000
- Washington D.C., Los Angeles, Orange County, Santa Monica, Sacramento, Boston, and Seattle $65,000 - $90,000
- All Other U.S. Locations $60,000 - $80,000
