Primary Purpose of Position
This position serves as the primary business and administrative operations coordinator supporting the Engineering Technology (ET) programs within the School of Energy. ET includes three academic programs, two undergraduate programs and one master’s program—with approximately 350-450 graduate and undergraduate students, 16 faculty members, two SHRA laboratory managers, and two EHRA academic advisors.
The position manages well-defined day-to-day business and administrative functions supporting the ET programs, including financial administration and fund reconciliation, purchasing and payment processing, travel administration, routine personnel and hiring actions, records management, accreditation support, and administrative and program coordination.
The employee serves as a primary point of contact for ET faculty, staff, and students regarding established University business processes and applies established University, College, and School policies and procedures in carrying out assigned responsibilities.
The position is responsible for a variety of assigned funds and funding types with differing purposes, restrictions, and allowable uses. The employee must be able to use Banner and other University financial and reporting systems to research financial activity, reconcile assigned funds, identify commitments and encumbrances, and determine current fund balances and available resources.
The employee resolves routine business and administrative issues for which established procedures or precedents exist. Non-routine non-sponsored business matters requiring additional review, interpretation, or approval are referred to or coordinated with the School of Energy Business Officer. Sponsored-program and grant-related matters are referred to or coordinated with the School of Energy Research Officer, as appropriate.
The position also works with College and University administrative offices to complete assigned business processes and resolve routine operational issues
