Grande Custom Builders is looking for a skilled and reliable Residential Construction Project Manager to lead the construction of high‑end, one‑of‑a‑kind custom homes in the Charlotte area. This is not a sit‑at‑your‑desk role. As a Residential Construction Project Manager, you will be in the field every day, overseeing at least three projects t of your time will be spent on active sites directing crews, managing schedules, and coordinating vendors and subcontractors. You will report to the VP of Construction and serve as a key client‑facing leader throughout each build.
Office time is limited but important and includes responsibilities like reviewing estimates, invoices, purchase orders, and schedule adjustments.
- Manage at least three active custom home builds at once
- Direct subcontractors and in‑house labor with clarity and accountability
- Build and maintain project schedules using Microsoft Project or similar tools
- Handle change orders, estimates, purchase orders, and invoice reviews
- Provide weekly updates to clients with site photos and a summary of current and upcoming work
- Ensure plans are followed, trade scopes are executed correctly, and issues are resolved early
- Communicate effectively with vendors, homeowners, and internal team members
- Enforce site safety and ensure OSHA compliance
- Anticipate the next phase of construction and prepare accordingly
- Use construction management tools such as Managing It Right or equivalent software
- Five to seven years of experience in custom residential construction project management
- Field‑based leadership experience with the ability to manage subcontractors and crews
- Strong understanding of residential construction methods, scheduling, and trade coordination
- Proficiency in reading blueprints
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to foresee scheduling or cost issues before they occur
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and cloud‑based storage tools like Box
- Experience with Managing It Right or similar construction management software
- Strong attention to detail and follow‑through on commitments
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Full time position
- Competitive salary starting at $85,000 to $105,000/year based on experience
