Summary

Megawatt Solutions, Inc. is a rapidly growing low-voltage infrastructure provider specializing in the delivery of critical technology and communications systems for data centers and other mission-critical facilities. As demand for data center infrastructure continues to accelerate across the United States, Megawatt Solutions is expanding rapidly to meet the needs of some of the nation’s most demanding technology environments. Our success is built on technical expertise, exceptional execution, safety, accountability, and our ability to deliver complex projects at scale.

Our expertise includes structured cabling, fiber optic systems, copper cabling, telecommunications infrastructure, data center connectivity, pathway systems, racks and cabinets, cable management, testing, certification, and related low-voltage systems.

As our national operations continue to expand, we are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team and play a key role in securing and successfully pricing major low-voltage and data center infrastructure projects across the United States.

This is an important position within our organization. The Estimator will work closely with estimating, operations, project management, field leadership, vendors, subcontractors, and senior management to develop accurate, competitive, and profitable project proposals.

The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for low-voltage, structured cabling, fiber-optic and data center infrastructure projects.

The Estimator will review project drawings, specifications, scopes of work, bid documents, and client requirements; perform detailed quantity takeoffs; develop labor and material pricing; solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor proposals; identify project risks and exclusions; and prepare complete bid proposals for management review and submission.

The ideal candidate combines strong estimating skills with practical field knowledge and understands how low-voltage systems are actually installed in complex, active data center environments.

The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail, commercial awareness, technical knowledge, and the ability to identify both opportunities and risks before a project is awarded.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare complete and accurate estimates for low-voltage and structured cabling projects.
  • Review invitations to bid, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, schedules, and contract documents.
  • Develop detailed estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, logistics, and other project costs.
  • Prepare competitive proposals while maintaining company profitability requirements.
  • Meet bid deadlines and manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from construction drawings, specifications, equipment schedules, and project documents.
  • Quantify copper and fiber cabling, patch panels, racks, cabinets, pathways, cable management, hardware, connectors, labeling, testing, and related materials.
  • Identify installation quantities, labor requirements, and project-specific requirements.
  • Utilize digital takeoff and estimating tools to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Verify takeoffs and pricing before proposals are submitted.
  • Develop estimates for structured cabling and mission-critical data center infrastructure.
  • Understand the installation requirements and sequencing associated with large-scale data center projects.
  • Identify technical requirements that may affect project cost, labor, schedule, or execution.
  • Develop accurate labor estimates based on project scope, installation requirements, productivity expectations, project conditions, and schedule.
  • Determine manpower requirements and anticipated installation durations.
  • Apply appropriate labor units and productivity factors.
  • Consider project-specific conditions such as access, work hours, congestion, phasing, security requirements, and active data center environments.
  • Work with field leadership and operations to validate labor assumptions when appropriate.
  • Obtain current pricing for cable, fiber, connectivity hardware, racks, cabinets, pathways, cable management, testing equipment, and other project materials.
  • Solicit quotes from manufacturers, distributors, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Compare pricing, lead times, availability, and project requirements.
  • Identify long-lead or high-risk materials that may impact project execution.
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to obtain competitive…
