The Pre-K Teacher provides a high-quality early learning experience for four-year-old children enrolled in the Mecklenburg County Pre‑K program. The teacher supports children’s cognitive, social‑emotional, language, and physical development through developmentally appropriate, play‑based instruction and positive relationships.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with NC Pre‑K standards.
- Create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment that promotes school readiness.
- Support children’s social‑emotional growth and positive behavior.
- Observe, document, and assess children’s progress using required assessment tools.
- Communicate effectively with families and collaborate with teaching staff and administrators.
- Participate in required professional development and coaching activities.
- Assistant Teacher:
Currently enrolled in an early childhood education program or willing to enroll and actively work toward required credentials as outlined by NC Pre‑K and DCDEE. - Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and licensure support through the NC Early Educator Support (EES) system.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn early childhood best practices and child development principles.
- Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Experience working with preschool-aged children in a licensed early childhood or NC Pre‑K classroom.
- Familiarity with developmentally appropriate practice and play-based learning.
- Experience supporting children’s social‑emotional development and positive classroom behavior.
- Knowledge of or experience with classroom observation, documentation, and assessment tools.
- Experience partnering with families and working collaboratively as part of a teaching team.
