Essential Job Functions- Implement literacy curriculum and activities.
- Develop engaging lesson plans aligned to specific learning objectives.
- Deliver engaging and rigorous lesson plans that appeal to all learners.
- Use formal assessment data to inform planning and delivery of lessons.
- Create a positive, achievement-oriented, engaging, and structured environment that excites and invests children.
- Motivate children to realize academic growth and character development.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and Urban Promise staff.
- Meet regularly with the Literacy Facilitator to establish goals, measure effectiveness, and work to continually improve programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in any field of study
- Valid North Carolina teaching certification preferred
- Strong belief in the Urban Promise mission and model
- High level of personal organization
- Passion and love for working with young children
- Proven track‑record of high achievement in a classroom setting
- Experience utilizing and implementing data‑driven instruction
- Passion for affecting social, economic, and spiritual change in low‑income communities
- Team player: maturity, humility, strong work‑ethic, sense of humor, and a willingness to respond positively to feedback
- At least two years of teaching experience (preferably in a Title 1 school) is preferred
- Time:
Mondays and Tuesdays from 4:00 – 6:00 PM beginning September 22, 2025 and ending May 12, 2026 - Location:
West Site:
Ophelia Garman‑Brown Community Center - Pay: $30 per hour
- This is a part‑time position that will not be eligible for benefits.
