Executive Director of Career & Technical Education
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools invites applications for the senior Executive Director of Career & Technical Education (CTE). The position is full‑time, paid under Pay Grade 12, and reports to the Associate Superintendent of Student Programs, Planning, and Placement.
OverviewThe Executive Director leads, manages, and evaluates the district’s CTE programs, including magnet programs and advanced coursework. The role oversees program development, budgeting, data analysis, and partnership building to ensure pathways that prepare students for college, career, and life readiness.
Essential Functions- Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
- Lead, supervise, and evaluate CTE staff and programs.
- Collaborate in developing the district’s strategic plan and annual CTE Local Plan.
- Measure and analyze performance data to improve instruction and student outcomes.
- Coordinate the annual collection of data, including VEIS and academic measures.
- Prepare and submit required reports to LEA, State Board, and federal agencies (Perkins legislation).
- Develop career, technical, and magnet programs that encourage industry exploration, including STEM and trades.
- Oversee industry and higher education presentations to clarify career pathways.
- Collaborate with counselors to enroll students in appropriate courses and opportunities.
- Engage external partnerships to support district financial and strategic postsecondary goals.
- Monitor and participate in budget development and department administration.
- Facilitate professional development and attend relevant meetings as needed.
- Comprehensive knowledge of NC CTE curriculum, policies, and regulations.
- Strong data‑driven decision‑making skills.
- Proficiency in educational software and data analysis tools.
- Effective communication and relationship‑building abilities.
- Budget development and monitoring skills.
- Leadership in program evaluation and quality improvement.
- Master’s degree required.
- Valid NC CTE Administrator License (711) required.
- Minimum five (5) years of related experience within the past eight (8) years.
- Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation.
- Travel to district buildings and professional meetings.
