serves over 300 undergraduate students in its BSN and RN to BSN programs, and over 200 graduate students in its MSN , certificate, and DNP programs, including a nurse anesthesia program and possibilities for a PhD program under discussion. These programs are supported by an enthusiastic team of over 30 full time faculty members, including one distinguished professor. The School of Nursing is located in the state‑of‑the‑art College of Health and Human Services where three of the four units in the College, Nursing, Public Health Sciences, and Social Work, are co‑located.

Facilities include a complex of learning resources and laboratories for evidence‑based and high‑impact real‑life clinical simulations to facilitate the development of students’ critical thinking, clinical reasoning and decision‑making skills as well as a virtual cadaver lab and Anatomage Tables as well as new Interprofessional Education Spaces.

Responsible for the daily operation of the department and the department programs. The Department Chair/Director will promote excellence in department programs within the University. Chair/Director responsibilities are classified as professional duties requiring leadership and mentoring of faculty, administrative expertise to include vision, long‑term and short‑term planning, decision‑making and coordination of instruction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The administrator must have a strong ability to build a faculty and staff committed to preparing a diverse workforce, and to extending educational opportunities to students from all backgrounds; the interest and ability to work collaboratively with different communities of interest to strengthen and develop partnerships and to engage with healthcare systems and clinical partners within the region; experience in recruiting, supporting, and retaining faculty;

ability to collaborate across disciplines/units and support for interprofessional education; ability to promote nursing research, education and service; experience in program evaluation and accreditation as well as expansion of programming; evidence of building external partnerships and a willingness to engage in development initiatives. This is a full‑time administrative position.

UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience

The candidate must be eligible for RN licensure in NC, hold a graduate degree in nursing and a PhD in nursing or a field closely related to nursing, and be eligible for appointment as a tenured professor. Preference will be given to having a PhD in Nursing. The candidate must have strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in curricular evaluation and accreditation;

significant experience in nursing leadership, education, and practice; an outstanding record of scholarship; and a demonstrated commitment to building a strong community across academic silos.
