As a Middle/HS English Teacher, you will create and implement a flexible program and classroom environment conducive to student learning and personal growth, develop lesson plans in line with established guidelines, establish effective rapport with students, staff, and parents, and motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge appropriate to their abilities.

- Plan and implement a program of instruction that adheres to CSUSA’s philosophy, goals, and objectives.
- Create purposeful lesson plans that maximize teaching strategies and time on task.
- Present subject matter to maximize learning opportunities and provide real‑world, application‑based examples.
- Review student records to assess abilities and needs, maintaining accurate and complete records.
- Strive to maximize the educational achievement of each student.
- Utilize a range of learning modalities and differentiated instruction within lessons.
- Conduct diagnostic assessments frequently and maintain accurate records.
- Assess strengths and weaknesses, provide appropriate activities, and generate progress reports.
- Refer students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel.
- Coordinate class field trips as required.
- Prepare students for state‑required achievement assessments.
- Maintain knowledge of subject matter, learning theory, and share insights for curriculum improvement.
- Assist in the ongoing curriculum revision process and in selecting instructional materials.
- Become acquainted with supplemental services beneficial to students.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to students’ maturity and interests.
- Maintain positive rapport, demonstrate patience, and nurture student growth.
- Keep the classroom clean, safe, and display student work appropriately, implementing all relevant conduct policies.
- Develop reasonable classroom/playground rules and maintain order fairly and consistently.
- Develop lesson plans consistent with established guidelines and goals.
- Plan individual and group learning activities to meet instructional objectives and student needs.
- Prepare for classes assigned and provide evidence of preparation as requested.
- Participate with other staff in curriculum planning during designated meetings.
- Incorporate diagnostic information required by each student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).
- Take necessary precautions to protect supplies, equipment, and materials needed for the instructional program.
- Strive to establish cooperative relationships and communicate with parents and guardians appropriately.
- Communicate clearly, consistently, and positively with parents through appropriate mediums.
- Cooperate with administration, staff, and CSUSA.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and participate in parent communication activities.
- Participate in extracurricular activities to support a positive school culture and provide support for students and staff as required.
