Purpose

As a Mathematics Teacher, you will create and implement a flexible program and classroom environment that fosters student learning and personal growth. You will develop lesson plans consistent with established guidelines, establish effective rapport with students, staff and parents, and motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge aligned with each student’s ability.

How You Will Impact Education
  • Plans and implements a program of instruction that adheres to the company’s philosophy, goals and objectives as outlined in the adopted courses of study.
  • Makes purposeful and appropriate lesson plans which provide for effective teaching strategies and maximize time on task.
  • Positives and real‑world examples to maximize learning opportunity.
  • Reviews student records to develop a foundation of understanding each student’s abilities and needs; maintains accurate and complete records.
  • Strives to maximize the educational achievement of each student.
  • Utilizes a variety of learning modalities and differentiated instruction within lessons.
  • Uses diagnostic assessment of student learning frequently and provides appropriate activities to address needs, generating progress reports as required.
  • Refers students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel; assigns lessons, corrects work and reviews oral presentations.
  • Coordinates class field trips as required.
  • Prepares students for state‑required achievement assessments.
  • Keeps current in subject‑matter knowledge and learning theory; shares knowledge for continual curriculum improvement.
  • Assists in the ongoing curriculum revision process, including the revision of written courses of study, selection of books, equipment and instructional materials.
  • Acquaints themselves with supplemental services beneficial to students.
Classroom Environment Conducive to Learning
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Maintains positive rapport with students, demonstrating patience and nurturing to assist growth.
  • Ensures a clean, safe classroom and includes student‑generated work on display as appropriate.
  • Implements all relevant student conduct policies.
  • Develops reasonable rules for classroom and playground behavior in accordance with CSUSA policy.
Instructional Planning
  • Develops lesson plans consistent with established guidelines and goals.
  • Plans individual and group learning activities designed to meet instructional objectives and student needs.
  • Prepares for classes assigned and demonstrates evidence of preparation upon request.
  • Participates with staff in curriculum planning during designated meetings.
  • Incorporates diagnostic information into planning for the Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Protects supplies, equipment, materials and facilities needed for planned instruction.
School / Community Relations
  • Establishes cooperative relations and communicates with parents/guardians when appropriate.
  • Communicates clearly, consistently and positively with parents via appropriate mediums.
  • Cooperates with administration, staff and CSUSA members.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding student records.
  • Participates in parent communication activities.
  • Participates in extracurricular activities to support school culture and provide support to students and staff as required.
