Salary Range $60,612.00 - $90,918.00
This is an exempt (salaried) position. Pay rates are based on education, skill, experience level and internal equity. Internal equity considerations include an assessment of the applicant’s salary history and qualifications in comparison to the market rateand requirements for the job.

Including 1-2 evenings per week and regular weekend rotations with Saturday and Sunday full-day shifts.

The Lead Librarian performs high-level professional and technical library workin one or more specific areas such as Adult, Teen, Children’s, Technology or Regional History/Genealogy. This position is responsible for assisting customers in accessing the full spectrum of library resources in multiple formats; other responsibilities include responding to complex reference,research/homework and readers’ advisory requests; developing, managing and promoting the library’s collection of materials; serving as a manager-on-dutyfor the branch or department, and interpreting and enforcing library policies and guidelines.

The position leads the planning and implementation of programs and services for their designated area; serves systemwide teams and participates in project management for Library initiatives; provides training and professional learning opportunities for library staff, volunteers and community partners. Work is performed with considerable independent judgment and initiative. Serves and maintains the national reputation of Charlotte Mecklenburg Library.

As a key member of the Main Library Adult Services Team, the Lead Librarian –Technology provides leadership and oversight for technology-focused services,programming and customer experiences throughout Main Library, with particular emphasis on the Innovation Lab and other emerging technology spaces and resources. The Lead Librarian supports the development, coordination and delivery of technology programs and services for customers of varying skill levels, provides instruction and assistance with specialized technology and equipment, and helps establish procedures and best practices for the effective use of technology resources.

The Lead Librarian works collaboratively with Main Library staff to identify opportunities to integrate technology into programming,learning and customer service and may facilitate staff training on Innovation Lab equipment, digital resources and emerging technologies.
