We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) team. The ideal candidate for the Safety Specialist role will be results driven, motivated by technical challenges; their will use their excellent interpersonal communication, organization, and demonstrated problem solving analytical skills to successfully oversee, facilitate, and audit their site's safety training programs as well as provide safety support during site shutdowns, equipment inspection and installation, and advise on safety regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities- Prepare, coordinate, and deliver safety training on topics such as confined space, LTCT, barricade, fall protection, ACC/FCC, hands‑on fire extinguisher use, new hire orientation, and other key programs. Track and maintain all site training records.
- Conduct routine reviews of key site safety programs, procedures, and operations to ensure adequacy, effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.
- Inspect facilities, equipment, and safety systems to identify and correct potential hazards, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Coordinate and lead loss prevention initiatives as well as regulatory safety inspections.
- Evaluate confined space entry (CSE) rescue plans, provide recommendations, and serve as a site resource for CSE first checks and rescue setup.
- Manage site security responsibilities, including learning and overseeing the site’s badging system and maintaining the overall security program.
- Support the site during startups, shutdowns, and during periods of construction.
- Review plans for construction and installation of new equipment to identify potential safety concerns.
- Lead and participate in various site safety teams.
- Stay current with safety policies, regulations, and industry processes.
- Maintain a working knowledge of fire protection systems.
- Additional safety initiatives as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Loss Prevention, Occupational Safety, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of professional experience in a safety-related role.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and accident investigation methodologies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Detail‑oriented, highly organized, and self‑motivated.
- Effective oral, written, and presentation communication skills, with strong listening and clarification abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on accuracy and tidiness.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Capable of following instructions and executing tasks with accuracy.
- Skilled in building effective relationships and interfacing with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
