Senior Engineering Technician; Special Inspector

Senior Engineering Technician (Special Inspector) – Charlotte, NC

NOVA Engineering is seeking a Senior Engineering Technician (Special Inspector) in Charlotte, NC. We are looking for a self‑motivated individual with a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.

• Perform field materials testing of soil, concrete, and asphalt
• Conduct structural inspections for rebar, masonry, post‑tensioning, and foundations
• Prepare detailed and complete field reports with all relevant test results and observations
• Perform laboratory tests on soil and concrete and prepare reports of results
• Evaluate site and subgrade conditions on construction projects and provide recommendations
• Communicate with clients, contractors, and engineering and technician staff regarding construction issues

• ACI Level I Concrete Field Testing certification is required
• ICC Reinforced Concrete, Soils, and/or Structural Masonry are a plus
• Ability to learn to read and interpret plans, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to apply basic mathematical formulas and concepts to calculate quantities, estimate volumes, inspect constructed work, make recommendations in the field and to perform calculations for field and laboratory tests and equipment.
• Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 70 pounds on a regular basis.
• Requires a valid, clean driver’s license, as travel to job sites is required.
