Senior Transportation Construction Inspector (Technician Level II or higher)

• Perform construction engineering and inspection duties on highway and/or bridge construction projects utilizing NCDOT policies and procedures.
• Lead inspections as the primary inspector responsible for all inspection and documentation, managing other inspectors as needed.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, identifying discrepancies or conflicts within contract documents and enforcing document requirements.
• Travel to meetings, site visits, and inspections throughout the state of North Carolina, keeping candidates close to their geographic location when possible.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation in compliance with project and company standards.

• High School diploma or equivalent; candidates with 8 years of relevant construction inspection experience may substitute experience for a high school diploma.
• A minimum of 5 years experience in construction inspection.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong written communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Successfully pass drug‑screening procedures prior to being hired; thereafter subject to random and cause drug and alcohol testing.
• Commitment to being an active participant of HDR’s employee‑owned culture.

• Minimum of 10 years of experience inspecting transportation projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Work requires travel to meetings, site visits, and inspections.
• Must be licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with applicable state law.
• NCDOT experience preferred.
• Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Management experience a plus.
• Local candidates preferred.
