Senior Transportation Construction Inspector (Technician Level II or higher)

Responsibilities- Perform construction engineering and inspection duties on highway and/or bridge construction projects utilizing NCDOT policies and procedures.
- Lead inspections as the primary inspector responsible for all inspection and documentation, managing other inspectors as needed.
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, identifying discrepancies or conflicts within contract documents and enforcing document requirements.
- Travel to meetings, site visits, and inspections throughout the state of North Carolina, keeping candidates close to their geographic location when possible.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation in compliance with project and company standards.
- High School diploma or equivalent; candidates with 8 years of relevant construction inspection experience may substitute experience for a high school diploma.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in construction inspection.
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Successfully pass drug‑screening procedures prior to being hired; thereafter subject to random and cause drug and alcohol testing.
- Commitment to being an active participant of HDR’s employee‑owned culture.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience inspecting transportation projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Work requires travel to meetings, site visits, and inspections.
- Must be licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with applicable state law.
- NCDOT experience preferred.
- Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Management experience a plus.
- Local candidates preferred.
