The company possesses an enviable in‑house engineering capability, employing a team of chemical, metallurgical, and mechanical engineers who provide process engineering design, R&D, and support services for our potable and effluent water treatment, solid‑liquid separation, chemical dosing, remote monitoring and control, and mineral process optimization plants.

We focus on the operations and maintenance of water treatment plants, equipment, and water‑related infrastructure by deploying trained and qualified operating and maintenance personnel to client facilities. Watercare Innovations is based in Charlotte, the United States, and Gauteng South Africa.

Summary

Chemical Engineers (or Process Engineers) are responsible for developing new industrial

processes, also the designing of new process plants and equipment, or modifying existing ones. The processes that they formulate are then used to develop various products and technical solutions ranging from oil and gas to water treatment.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Development of PFDs and P&IDs
  • Development of Control Philosophies
  • Compilation of mass and energy balances for process design purposes
  • Assist with Commissioning and Plant handover
  • Designing and testing of new Processes and Process Upgrades
  • Ensuring developed processes comply with the necessary safety and quality standards
  • Using and Developing Process Software to optimize and troubleshoot processes and also reduce cost
  • Collecting Data Required to make Improvements and Modifications to existing systems
  • Overseeing the Process portion during the Construction of new plants
  • Purchasing and Installing Equipment if so required and only when competent to do so
  • Using Scientific Principles related to magnitude, momentum, heat transfer, etc.
  • Consult on Plant Operations.
  • Development of best practice procedures and manuals for equipment pertaining to the WcM
  • standard equipment range
  • Assist with the development of standard operating instructions and design procedures
  • Investigating and Troubleshooting Plant/Process problems
  • Plant/Process Monitoring and Reporting
  • Scheduling and Coordinating work to tight deadlines and within financial budgets
  • Ensuring that equipment works to its specifications and to appropriate capacities
  • Liaising with Mechanical/Electrical Engineers and other involved parties
  • Comply to the Watercare Mining SHEQ IMS (Integrated Management System)
  • Assist with the development of technical proposals for new proposed systems, including
  • CAPEX and OPEX estimations
  • Scheduling and Coordinating Risk Assessments and HAZOP studies if required
What We’re Looking For
  • B.Eng. in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of proven experience in process engineering, with strong technical skills and familiarity with process simulations.
