Structural Engineer Co-op- Charlotte, NC

As a Structural Engineer Co-op at Steel Fab, you’ll work closely with our Engineering and Modeling teams and participate in a variety of projects that will deepen your understanding of the structural steel industry. Throughout the internship, you’ll take on a range of responsibilities designed to enhance your skills and broaden your experience.

• Analyze structural and architectural drawings to ensure design accuracy and compliance.
• Assist in the design of bolted and welded connections for both gravity and lateral force‑resisting systems.
• Learn and apply code requirements for wind and seismic lateral systems
• Collaborate with the Detailing team to design and model connections in a 3D environment.
• Review fabrication and erection drawings to ensure they meet project requirements.
• Partner with the Software Development team to innovate and improve design technology and contribute to the advancement of industry practices.

Required: Strong interest or experience in the engineering and construction industry. Competency in PDFs, Microsoft Excel and Word, common computer skills

Preferred: Passed EIT exam or scheduled to take exam prior to graduation
