Your OpportunityWe have an immediate opportunity within our Water Practice in the Carolinas for a Water/Wastewater Engineer to pursue and manage municipal and industrial projects including water, wastewater, and stormwater conveyance and treatment facilities and related civil infrastructure. The successful candidate will use their management and technical abilities to work within a team of water professionals to win, manage, and deliver projects in the planning and design of a wide array of civil and water resources projects.

- Manage and successfully pursue water‑related projects of varying complexity within multidisciplinary teams.
- Lead and delegate project tasks, mentoring and supervising staff.
- Participate in marketing efforts and business development, including relationship development, proposal preparation, and interview participation.
- Interact with clients and management regarding project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Apply and share planning and design expertise.
- Research regulatory issues related to projects.
- Prepare project deliverables and ensure timely completion.
- Perform calculations, report preparation, process studies, research investigations, and preparation of plans and specifications for water/wastewater treatment and conveyance, stormwater management, regulatory compliance, LID design, and green infrastructure.
- Develop engineering conclusions from data analysis.
- Determine permitting requirements and participate in the permitting process.
- Assist in schedule and budget planning.
- Engage directly with clients to gather information and discuss project requirements.
- Apply standard engineering techniques and criteria, adapting as necessary.
- Assign tasks and coordinate work of the technical team.
- Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members, external consultants, owners, contractors, sub‑contractors, and vendors.
- Exceptional knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental legislation and regulations.
- Excellent organizational, technical writing, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and take on complex tasks.
- Ownership and accountability for team deliverables.
- Existing local client relationships.
- Excellent time‑management and budgeting skills.
- Effective communication with clients and reviewing agencies.
- Thorough understanding of codes, legal, and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
- Strong problem‑solving and creative judgment.
- Ability to check others’ work for accuracy and completeness.
- Team leadership and excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong presentation and interview skills preferred.
- Conduct quality assurance and control on own projects.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience.
In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided. Final compensation depends on education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Stantec offers bonus opportunities. Part‑time compensation is pro‑rated.
