Senior Structures Engineering | DRMP.
- Develop structural calculations and produce engineering drawings for both Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build projects related to bridge and transportation structures.
- Perform and direct engineering alternatives investigations through the collection and analysis of data, performing calculations, and evaluation of alternate solutions.
- Prepare written technical reports.
- Support construction phase of projects, including responding to RFIs, review of shop drawings, problem solving, etc.
- Train and mentor junior engineers.
- Bachelor of Science from an ABET-accredited university in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer and/or Structural Engineer.
- 10+ years post-registration structural engineering experience.
- 15+ years of relevant bridge design and plans production experience, including reinforced concrete bridges, prestressed/post-tensioned concrete bridges, steel plate and box girder bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, sign/signal structures, sound barrier walls, and other transportation-related structures.
- Experience using a variety of bridge design software (FB Multi-Pier, Leap Bridge Concrete, Smartbridge, LARSA, CSI, STAAD, MDX, Shoring Suite, Atlas, and the NCDOT MathCAD analysis worksheets) and platforms (Microstation, GEOPAK, Open Bridge Modeler, AutoCAD and/or CADD).
- Proficiency in 3D modeling in Open Bridge Modeler (plus).
- Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.
- Ability to guide junior staff and participate in design/value engineering of all aspects of full-scale multi-discipline bridge projects.
- Construction specialty engineering experience (plus).
- Experience with post-tensioning applications (plus).
- Experience with straddle bent design (plus).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs:
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. - Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and time management skills.
- Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines.
- Detail-oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history.
- Master’s (MSE/MSCE) in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- PE and/or SE certification in North Carolina or ability to obtain North Carolina Registration.
- Familiarity with NCDOT Structures Manual and NCDOT Construction Specifications.
