Note: This position requires employees to be on-site five days a week at our clients Charlotte, NC office.
Schedule:
Four 9-hour workdays and a half-day on Fridays.
Note: The qualified candidate for this position must have a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (or ability to obtain within 6 months), and have 10+ years of hydraulic design experience, preferably on NCDOT projects

Job DescriptionOur client is seeking an experienced Hydraulic Project Manager to join their Charlotte team. This role focuses on leading hydrology and hydraulic design for major transportation infrastructure projects and ensuring compliance with NCDOT and FHWA standards.
- Manage hydrology and hydraulic design for transportation‑related projects
- Conduct stormwater modeling, roadway drainage design, erosion control, and floodplain analysis
- Design stormwater management systems, culverts, and bridge hydraulics
- Oversee project scopes, budgets, schedules, and client coordination
- Prepare technical reports and design documentation
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including roadway, structural, and environmental engineers
- Mentor and train junior engineering staff
- Conduct occasional fieldwork to verify site conditions
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Engineering (or related field)
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- 10+ years of hydraulic design experience, preferably on NCDOT projects
- Strong proficiency in Micro Station, GEOPAK Drainage, HEC‑RAS, Open Roads Designer, and SUDA
- Familiarity with NCDOT guidelines, FHWA Hydraulic Design Manual, and erosion control best practices
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills
