OverviewThe IS Mechanical Designer III will design mechanical systems, components, or assemblies using engineering principles.
Responsibilities- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to create high-level concepts and designs for assigned projects.
- Ensure successful execution of project goals in collaboration with the team.
- Conduct field surveys to identify existing equipment types and system capabilities.
- Produce design documents including drawings, system flow diagrams, wiring diagrams, construction details, and equipment schedules with limited supervision.
- Deliver concepts and designs within strict project deadlines.
- Contribute to all areas of the creative process and department.
- Handle complex issues and refer only the most intricate problems to higher-level staff.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to team members; may act as a lead or first-level supervisor.
- Train designer-level staff on basic design principles and standards.
- Associate degree in HVAC Technology, Building Systems Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- 4-6 years of design experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT.
- Strong technical skills and effective communication abilities.
- Creative vision and ability to meet deadlines.
- Planning skills and attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of relevant subject matter.
- Willingness to manage multiple ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree (preferred).
- Experience with Building Automation System design and sequence writing; systems include Siemens, JCI, Honeywell, Trane, Struxureware, and Tridium.
- HVAC Design and Commissioning experience; systems include Chilled Water, Heating Water, Condenser Water, and Steam.
- Experience in Higher Education and Healthcare design.
- Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
- Noisy and quiet environments.
- Small and enclosed spaces.
- Climbing stairs and moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight spaces.
- Remaining stationary for prolonged periods.
- Repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, and fingers.
- Traveling to job sites or office locations (10-25%).
