The IS Mechanical Designer III will design mechanical systems, components, or assemblies using engineering principles.

• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to create high-level concepts and designs for assigned projects.
• Ensure successful execution of project goals in collaboration with the team.
• Conduct field surveys to identify existing equipment types and system capabilities.
• Produce design documents including drawings, system flow diagrams, wiring diagrams, construction details, and equipment schedules with limited supervision.
• Deliver concepts and designs within strict project deadlines.
• Contribute to all areas of the creative process and department.
• Handle complex issues and refer only the most intricate problems to higher-level staff.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to team members; may act as a lead or first-level supervisor.
• Train designer-level staff on basic design principles and standards.

• Associate degree in HVAC Technology, Building Systems Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 4-6 years of design experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT.
• Strong technical skills and effective communication abilities.
• Creative vision and ability to meet deadlines.
• Planning skills and attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of relevant subject matter.
• Willingness to manage multiple ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree (preferred).
• Experience with Building Automation System design and sequence writing; systems include Siemens, JCI, Honeywell, Trane, Struxureware, and Tridium.
• HVAC Design and Commissioning experience; systems include Chilled Water, Heating Water, Condenser Water, and Steam.
• Experience in Higher Education and Healthcare design.

• Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
• Noisy and quiet environments.
• Small and enclosed spaces.

• Climbing stairs and moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight spaces.
• Remaining stationary for prolonged periods.
• Repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, and fingers.
• Traveling to job sites or office locations (10-25%).
