Engineering Technician (Geotechnical/Construction Quality Assurance)

Join NV5 as an Engineering Technician in our Charlotte, NC location. This role is also open to candidates in Fayetteville, NC;
Rocky Mount, NC; and Burlington, NC.

Construction Quality Assurance, Infrastructure, Utility Services, Program Management, and Environmental. Our teams help clients plan, design, build, test, certify, and operate projects that improve the communities where we live and work.

Responsibilities include monitoring activity on construction sites and performing testing of soils, concrete, and asphalt pavement materials. A company truck, phone, and safety equipment will be provided at our office.

• Performs In-Place Density Tests using nuclear density gauge, drive sleeve, or sand cone method.
• Aggregate sampling and concrete/grout/masonry sampling (including: air content, slump testing, visual observations, casting samples of concrete cylinders, mortar cubes, and grout prisms, and obtaining core samples).
• May also perform asphalt sampling, back scatter tests, and coring.

• Will train employees without work experience; preference for candidates with at least some construction‑related work history.
• Basic math and writing skills.
• Strong work ethic.
• Ability to work as a team player.
• Offer is contingent on background report.

• Subject to outside environmental conditions, including weather such as wet/humid, extreme cold or heat, dusty and noisy work environments.
• Field work involving long-term standing and frequent walking, with common hazards at construction and project sites.
• Must be able to carry, lift, and push/pull up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Must be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain and stand up to 10 hours a day on occasion.
• Must have the ability to see, smell, hear, talk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, sit, stand, and walk.
• Weekend, overtime, overnight work, and travel may be required.
• Additional physical duties may be required as necessary.
