Senior Product Operations Manager, New Hardware
This role is part of Palmetto’s Asset Management & Services team in Charlotte, NC. As the Senior Product Operations Manager of Hardware, you will provide expertise and detailed analysis at the intersection of hardware and software for solar and other residential clean‑energy products, guiding Palmetto’s technology strategy and ensuring the reliability and performance of our hardware fleet.

SummaryYou will play a key role in guiding the hardware strategy for Palmetto Light Reach, VPP program expansion, and OEM relationships, supporting rapid growth while improving customer satisfaction and maintaining a healthy asset fleet.
Responsibilities- Provide expertise on current, future, and legacy solar and residential energy technologies—including modules, batteries, inverters, monitoring platforms, and mounting hardware—to ensure Palmetto’s offerings are market‑leading.
- Communicate hardware requirements between engineers, operations teammates, OEMs, investors, and other stakeholders.
- Translate hardware decisions into business implications covering performance and installation/maintenance processes.
- Collaborate with commercial and operational teams to launch new hardware successfully and maintain AVL requirements.
- Identify new partners and technologies that advance Palmetto’s strategic approach, and present proposed product and hardware strategies to leadership.
- Maintain relationships with OEM partners and technical teams, proactively communicating changing requirements.
- 7+ years of experience providing deep, highly technical, hands‑on knowledge of solar or other energy‑efficiency technologies (e.g., hardware product development, electrician/installer).
- Prior experience in the solar industry is required; experience with HVAC, smart thermostats, or EV chargers is a plus.
- Ability to review in‑depth Independent Engineer reports on solar inverters or batteries, assess risks/strengths, and work with OEMs to mitigate issues.
- Highly analytical, data‑driven, detail‑oriented, using data to drive decisions.
- Experience managing multiple priorities, influencing peers and cross‑functional teams, and organizing/leading parallel work streams.
- Strong communication skills, able to engage senior leaders, cross‑functional peers, and external stakeholders promptly.
- Proactive problem‑solver with a root‑cause mentality.
- Early‑stage startup experience is preferred.
- Contractor’s license and/or electrical license is preferred.
