Process Controls Engineer (DCS Specialist)

Summary:

A leading paper manufacturer in the Charlotte Metro is searching to add a Process Controls Engineer to its team! In this role, you will have the opportunity to work out of one of the largest and most well‑recognized paper mills in the country with a collaborative engineering team. You will be responsible for heading up an impressive DCS migration project from Honeywell TDC 3000 to ABB 800XA.

Responsibilities
  • Provide process control engineering and automation support to the manufacturing facility.
  • Take ownership of the site’s DCS systems (maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading).
  • Develop and execute maintenance related to systems automation to ensure that the facility remains in an operational state.
  • Execute control system configuration and monitoring, and HMI design.
  • Direct or assist capital engineering and process improvement projects.
  • Provide automation system and facility expertise with regulatory agencies during audits.
  • Apply engineering theory to establish root cause of equipment failures.
Required Skills & Abilities
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Chemical Engineering – preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with process controls engineering or maintenance.
  • Experience in paper & pulp/plastics or chemical manufacturing.
  • Hands‑on experience with distributed control systems (DCS), Allen‑Bradley PLCs, SCADA, HMI, and Factory Talk.
