Job Description

This Senior Structural Engineer position is based in Atlanta, GA on a hybrid basis (two days a week in the office) with relocation assistance available. The role works within AECOM’s Buildings + Places practice, which includes architecture, interiors, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and environmental engineering. You will contribute to the structural design of buildings and structures for signature projects such as FAA, NASA, USPS, Georgia Ports Authority, worldwide fueling projects, MARTA stations and data centers.

Responsibilities
  • Lead project structural engineering for a variety of building types and construction methodologies.
  • Provide technical input to structural studies and designs.
  • Train and share knowledge with junior staff on technical design, constructability and methodologies.
  • Communicate and present complex technical solutions to clients when applicable.
  • Conduct site visits for construction progress.
  • Perform quality‑control reviews of peer work and sign off on deliverables.
  • Participate in development of technical proposals, including estimates for engineering budget and schedule.
  • Review permitting agency standards, engineering regulations and client design standards for compliance.
  • Work independently under supervision of the Department or Project Manager, organizing workload and managing project‑specific design tasks.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering (accredited) with 6 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Registered as a Licensed Professional Engineer – PE in Structural Engineering.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Recent experience with Buildings and Facilities design projects.
  • Proficiency with structural design software such as ETABS, SAFE, SAP, RAM Elements and/or RISA.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • 10 years of experience in structural building development projects, covering all design aspects.
  • Experience on large, complex projects or programs.
  • Hybrid work model requirement: 2 days per week in the Atlanta office.

Compensation

Salary range: $120,000 – $155,000 per year, based on education, qualifications and experience.
