The Head of Real Estate & ABS Investments Oversight will oversee Martello Re asset managers’ activity across real estate and asset-backed securities markets. This will include liaising with the rest of the Martello Re investment team to understand the investment portfolio needs and interfacing with external asset managers to ensure the strategies are meeting Martello Re’s needs. The Head will implement a full cycle of oversight of each asset manager in these sectors, including onboarding, mandate & portfolio design, individual deal review, benchmarking and evaluation.

• Oversee asset managers’ investment activities, focusing on residential real estate (RMBS and whole loans), commercial real estate (CMBS and commercial mortgage loans) and securitized products (ABS)
• Liaise with the investment team and asset managers to set investment strategy, mandates, and guidelines
• Oversee and review individual alternative investments for suitability, compliance and performance
• Establish benchmarks and evaluate asset manager performance against these standards
• Monitor investment markets and identify emerging risks and opportunities
• Lead the onboarding process for new asset managers, ensuring thorough due diligence
• Conduct ongoing due diligence and performance monitoring of existing managers and investments
• Oversee portfolio construction to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and risk parameters
• Manage problem assets by coordinating with asset managers and providing briefings to senior management on resolution strategies and outcomes
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Advanced degree in finance, economics, business, mathematics, or a related field. CFA or CAIA professional designation preferred.
• 7+ years of relevant experience working in mortgage loan or securitized products, preferably within insurance, reinsurance, or asset management environments.
• Experience in both residential & commercial real estate is a plus
• Experience managing asset portfolios.
• Familiarity with fixed income, securitized and mortgage loan investing and related concepts.

• Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills; able to influence at all levels of the organization.
