Moore & Van Allen PLLC, a dynamic and fast-growing full-service law firm of more than 400 attorneys and professionals, is seeking a Tax Consultant to join its Charlotte, NC office. This full-time position provides support to our Corporate Tax team. The Tax Consultant performs a variety of duties to provide corporate tax expertise (federal and state) to clients of the firm.
- Works with other team members calculating annual fixed asset expenses, includes: reconciling reports with trial balances, discussions with client regarding purchases, preparing annual reports for client’s review.
- Assists in calculating monthly use tax accruals for clients.
- Prepares responses and documents for tax audits.
- Researches federal and state tax issues.
- Discusses tax issues/resolutions/planning opportunities with other team members.
- Reviews documents relating to potential client acquisitions, expansions, etc.
- Reviews and prepares tax credit documentation.
- Prepares filing packages for state tax incentive refunds.
- Prepares filing packages for state tax incentive refunds.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Position may require more than 40 hours per week to accomplish essential duties.
- Regular and in-person attendance is required to perform the essential functions of this interactive position.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Three to five years of experience in a public accounting tax department or comparable industry.
- Certified Public Accountant License required.
- Ability to perform some daily and overnight travel.
- The work is primarily sedentary.
- It requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
- The work requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
- The work at times requires bending, squatting, and reaching, with the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull light weights.
