The Senior Closer is responsible for actively leading and training others on the closing process of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (“Agency”) multi‑family property loans from loan application to purchase/settlement as well as ensuring a seamless transition of the loan from production to asset management. The incumbent is expected to be cross‑trained and proficient in closing loans with both Agencies. The Senior Closer will work directly with closing manager, closers, borrowers, originators, processors, underwriters, and Bellwether Enterprises Real Estate Capital’s (“BWE”) outside legal counsel, as well as Agency personnel as required.

The Senior Closer is expected to provide the borrower with an exceptional closing experience through all stages of the process and be able to train and lead closers to do the same.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate trainings with closers and associate closers on the closing process.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac closing/funding requirements with a strong knowledge of general real estate practices and law.
  • Troubleshoot issues on deals and be able to resolve issues quickly and seamlessly.
  • Facilitate closings from application stage through to settlement/purchase with the Agencies:
    Prepare and distribute the BWE commitment letters for borrower’s execution; prepare applicable rate lock documentation and coordinate with capital markets and deal team to facilitate rate lock, prepare and transmit BWE sources and uses/invoice to the title company and borrower for closing; review settlement statement as prepared by title company for accuracy; oversee settlement/purchase process with third party investor or Agency.
  • Take any such other actions to assist in closings as directed by the closing manager.
  • Maintain a robust pipeline of complex transaction types.

  • Must possess at least 3 years of experience with Fannie Mae and/or Freddie Mac closing or a commensurate field.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Ability to operate effectively both independently and as a leader in a team environment.
  • Ability to multi‑task with a strong sense of urgency to meet deadlines and help others meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Must possess judgment necessary to identify when issues and potential issues should be raised to closing manager, transaction managers, producers and/or analysts.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to take on new challenges quickly and successfully while motivating others in the process.
