The opportunity
EY Private Tax is a growing practice within the organization. The team focuses on privately held companies, including family-owned businesses and private equity owned companies. These high growth private companies range from start-ups to multi-billion-dollar global entities. You will work on technically demanding tax planning and compliance projects and have opportunities to progress to senior manager.
Responsibilities- Prepare or review federal and state tax returns for U.S. partnerships, including foreign reporting requirements for cross-border tax compliance (foreign partnerships, foreign corporations, foreign disregarded entities, and foreign affiliate reporting).
- Provide tax research, draft tax memoranda, and assist in quantitative modeling for private client tax advisory services.
- Identify and communicate significant tax matters to Managers and Senior Managers.
- Liaise with other service lines and subject matter professionals to build cross-functional relationships.
- Build effective long-term relationships with clients, understanding their unique needs to provide tailored service.
- Communicate complex tax issues to non-tax professionals and clients.
- Maintain professional reputation by updating and sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of tax professionals; review work and ensure access to tools and opportunities to excel.
- Identify and respond to risks and opportunities to improve services and processes.
To qualify for the role, you must have
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field, with tax, business or financial planning experience.
- A CPA certification or membership in The Bar.
- Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills, with confidence to challenge colleagues and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in professional services or professional tax organization.
- Willingness to travel as needed and experience working in a balanced hybrid environment.
Ideally, you will have
- Commitment to continuing learning.
- Proficiency with tax software such as RIA, CCH Intelli Connect, One Source, BNA or Lexis Nexis.
- Experience with Gift, Estate and Trust tax planning and compliance is a plus.
- Experience in managing, coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.

- Comprehensive compensation and benefits package. Base salary range in the US: $106,500 to $195,100; NYC Metro, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento): $127,700 to $221,700. Salaries determined by factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. Total Rewards include medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and paid time off options.
- Hybrid model: most client-serving roles expect in-person collaboration 40-60% of the time over a project or year.
