Carolina PRG has partnered with a $100M industrial automation manufacturer to help them identify a dynamic Senior Accountant to focus on Revenue and general accounting due to a recent internal promotion. This is an excellent opportunity to join a leadership team that take pride in mentoring and developing their team. The Senior Accountant is an integral part of the finance and accounting team, reporting to the Accounting Manager.
This position is a business partner and advisor to the other functions of the business providing strategic financial guidance to the management team, contributing to the overall financial health and success of the organization. As such, this role will be a highly visible role with a tremendous opportunity to drive change and positively impact the business, including involvement in an ERP implementation, acquisition integration/accounting and exposure to the senior leadership team.
The position is located in North Charlotte
- Assist in reviewing customer contracts for revenue recognition issues, assist in determining appropriate application of contract costs guidance, create and process monthly revenue journal entries, and prepare analytics for revenue and associated balance sheet accounts.
- Support preparation and analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and regulatory standards.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Determine the monthly Commissions payment calculation and accrual accounts, including support for sales teams with any questions.
- Reconcile and ensure compliance for relevant sales and use tax liabilities
- Provide critical support during mergers and acquisitions (M&A), including acquisition integration, accounting policy alignment, and system/process onboarding.
- Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory agencies to facilitate audits and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.
- Stay abreast of changes in accounting regulations and standards and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Build strong partnerships with other key functional leaders in the business as well as other key stakeholders.
- Execute value-added analysis and provide decision support for special projects and initiatives.
- Execute continuous process improvement efforts.
- Assist in developing finance and business presentations and related supporting materials for the senior leadership team, Board of Directors (BOD) and other outside constituents.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance required. CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
- 1+ years of revenue recognition experience
- Experience working in a public accounting firm is preferred.
- Demonstrated abilities in financial modeling and/or analysis.
- Proven experience as an accountant or similar role, with a minimum of 2-4 years of accounting experience.
- Solid understanding of accounting and finance principles.
- Strong analytical, written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated business partnering and interpersonal skills.
- Organized, flexible and easily adaptable to changing conditions.
- Prior experience working with ERP systems
- High degree of proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong project management skills.
- High energy, high ownership of work and dedication and commitment to driving results.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
