Role Summary

The Staff Accountant will support day-to-day accounting operations with a primary focus on cash, banking, accounts receivable clearing, payroll entries, and bank reconciliations. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of bank activity within the general ledger and supporting timely month-end close procedures.

Key Responsibilities & Duties Cash, Banking, and Reconciliations
  • Post and reconcile bank transactions at both the branch and corporate level to ensure accurate general ledger balances.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all assigned entities in accordance with month-end close deadlines.
  • Post miscellaneous and automated bank transactions, including bank fees and adjustments.
  • Research and resolve outstanding or reconciling cash items in a timely manner.
  • Identify opportunities for system efficiencies within bank accounts and assist with setting up bank rules to reduce manual entries.
  • Prepare escheatment documentation for review by the Controller, as needed, related to outstanding cash transactions.
Accounts Receivable Support
  • Clear accounts receivable payments by matching deposits and credit card transactions to bank credits.
  • Reconcile and clear undeposited funds accounts.
Payroll & Benefits Accounting
  • Post payroll clearing entries, including wages, benefits withheld, and related payroll transactions.
  • Assist with ensuring payroll activity is accurately reflected in the general ledger.
Coordination & Communication
  • Act as a liaison between branch personnel and Senior Manager for various general ledger activity.
  • Assist in maintaining effective banking relationships and supporting banking administration tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a business-related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in accounting.
  • Previous general ledger or accounting internship experience preferred.
  • Intermediate Excel skills (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, basic data analysis).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn accounting processes and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
