The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting and finance operations, including financial reporting, cash flow management, month-end close, project financials, and overall financial strategy. The candidate will lead a team of four Controllers and should have a strong background in construction finance, project-based accounting, and team leadership. Spanish/English bilingual proficiency is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the company’s accounting and finance functions, including four Controllers
- Partner with the current CFO during a planned transition into the CFO role
- Take ownership of month-end close and consolidated financial reporting
- Oversee cash flow, cash management, working capital, and forecasting
- Provide financial oversight of active construction projects and project profitability
- Review project financials, job costing, WIP, and overall project performance
- Develop and present financial strategy and recommendations to the CEO and leadership team
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and analysis
- Ensure accurate and timely financial statements and reporting
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, systems, and controls
- Support banking, insurance, audit, and other external financial relationships
- Partner with operational and project leadership to drive financial performance
- Develop and mentor the accounting team through a collaborative, servant-leadership approach
Qualifications
- Construction industry experience is required — contractor-side experience strongly preferred
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- Strong experience with project-based financial management
- Experience with job costing, WIP, project profitability, and cash flow management
- Strong financial analysis, reporting, and forecasting skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Spanish/English bilingual proficiency strongly preferred
- CPA, MBA, or other advanced degree preferred but not required
