Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Commercial Insurance Analyst is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and ensuring the adequacy of property and casualty insurance coverage on commercial real estate loans. This role serves as the primary point of contact for insurance-related compliance matters, working directly with borrowers, insurance agents, and brokers to cure deficiencies and bring coverage into full compliance with loan agreement requirements and applicable GSE (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac) or investor guidelines — enabling loans to rate lock and close on schedule.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Insurance Document Review & Compliance Analysis
  • Review and analyze ACORD certificates, declarations pages, and full insurance policies for commercial properties securing mortgage loans
  • Assess compliance against loan agreement requirements, GSE program guides (Fannie Mae Multifamily Selling & Servicing Guide, Freddie Mac Multifamily Seller/Servicer Guide), and applicable investor standards
  • Evaluate coverage types including property (all-risk/special form), general liability, flood (NFIP/private), wind/named storm, earthquake, terrorism (TRIA), workers' compensation, umbrella/excess, and loss of income/rents
  • Validate replacement cost value (RCV), insured-to-value (ITV) ratios, deductible limits, and loss of income coverage periods against loan documentation
  • Identify and document insurance deficiencies, gaps, or non-compliance issues and initiate resolution workflows
  • Agent & Borrower Outreach
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the lending team, borrowers, and insurance agents/brokers to resolve coverage deficiencies
  • Communicate deficiency requirements clearly and professionally, providing specific guidance on required changes to bring policies into compliance
  • Track outstanding items and follow up proactively to ensure timely resolution prior to loan closing or policy renewal deadlines
  • Escalate unresolved or complex non-compliance issues to senior analysts or management with recommended resolution paths

Candidate must work a 10am - 7pm EST shift.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in commercial real estate insurance review, mortgage loan servicing, or insurance compliance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of FHA, Fannie Mae and/or Freddie Mac multifamily servicing and insurance requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and analyze commercial property and casualty insurance policies and ACORD certificates
  • Familiarity with flood insurance regulations, NFIP policy requirements, and FEMA flood zone determinations
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage a high-volume workload under deadline pressure
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate complex insurance requirements to non-specialist stakeholders
  • Experience with commercial insurance compliance across Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA/HUD, life company, CMBS, or balance sheet lending programs
  • Exposure to loan origination or pre-closing insurance review workflows
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Real Estate, Insurance, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
