Moore & Van Allen PLLC, a dynamic and fast-growing full-service law firm of more than 400 attorneys and professionals, is seeking a Director of Public Affairs to work in our Charlotte office. The Director of Public Affairs is responsible for the research, analysis, and project coordination support for public affairs and advocacy initiatives. Monitors federal, state and local legislative, regulatory, and policy developments, conducts research on issues affecting client interests, and develops reports, presentations, and publications.
Coordinates project activities, synthesizes research from multiple sources, and supports client engagement and business development efforts.
This position will work with the Managing Director and the other Directors to perform and/or assist with research, analysis, legislative monitoring, and lobbying.
- Organizes and supervises client public affairs projects involving research and analysis, writing, editing and publishing of documents.
- Research and monitors bills, laws, regulations and other official actions at the federal, state and local level; studies proposed legislation to determine and analyze the possible effect on the interests of the client.
- Research federal, state and and local budgets and economic, employment and other pertinent issues.
- Coordinates and assigns different aspects of projects to appropriate support staff.
- Assembles and edits research from multiple staff into coherent presentations using a variety of tools including Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Software.
- Assists with organizing client and professional development activities.
- Regular and in-person attendance is required to perform essential functions of this interactive position.
- Other duties and responsibilities as needed
- Bachelor's degree is required;
Political Science or a related field is preferred. - Must have 7-10 years of experience in federal or state government, government relations, and/or political campaign work.
- Excellent project management and interpersonal communication skills with outstanding writing, proofreading and oral communications skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite is required.
- Must possess a valid and current driver's license.
- The work is primarily sedentary.
- It requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
- The work requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
- The work at times requires bending, squatting, and reaching, with the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull light weights.
