Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) – Job Description

You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and will perform as a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations.

• Determine donor eligibility to donate plasma and manage donor adverse events.
• Conduct review of laboratory test results and notify donors of unsuitable test results.
• Manage informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self‑exclusion; interview medical history and perform physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
• Evaluate donor reactions and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including developing Center Physician standing orders and arrangements for donor transport to emergency care facilities.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs with unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance, including donor safety and eligibility issues.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation is required by Occupational Health/ER, following EHS guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to local pandemic threats.

• High school diploma or graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned as an EMT‑Paramedic.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Completion of FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Hourly Wage Range: $22.04 – $30.31
