Strive for medical excellence when you join MEDIC as an EMT. This is a FULL‑TIME (40 hours/week), NON‑SEASONAL position requiring open availability to work days, nights, weekends and holidays
.
- Provide basic life support based on medical protocols: cardiopulmonary resuscitation, administering oxygen, controlling bleeding, applying bandages and splints, and obtaining vital signs.
- Respond to instructions from emergency medical dispatcher, drive a specially equipped emergency vehicle to the specified location and be proficient in mapping and navigational skills.
- Provide ALS logistical support for paramedic partner with patients requiring higher levels of care.
- Write complete and accurate EPCR report documentation for each patient cared for.
- Care for patients in psychiatric crisis (including S.I. and H.I. patients) providing medical, traumatic, and therapeutic communication.
- Assist paramedic partner with emergency scene management, coordinating with other emergency services and communicating with patients and their families.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Current EMT‑B Certification
- Must complete FEMA classes IS‑100, IS‑200, IS‑700, and IS‑800
- Valid NC/SC Driver’s License
- Maintain insurability with Agency’s insurance carrier
- Show proficiency with Agency‑approved driving course
- Must comply with annual respiratory fit testing
- Must maintain all mandatory con‑ed/in‑service training
- Medically fit for duty, able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing a threat of harm to self or others
- Able to work flexible hours; able to work holidays, nights, and weekends
- Must stand, walk, sit and perform other physical tasks for extended periods and safely operate a commercial vehicle in a high‑stress environment
- Must adapt to changes quickly, remain alert, communicate clearly in writing and verbally, work under pressure, and operate effectively in unpredictable situations
- Must adhere to all work rules, procedures and standards
Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk or hear, taste or smell, and regularly lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.

Frequent exposure to outside weather conditions, wet and/or humid environments, moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold/heat, risk of electrical shock, explosives, radiation risk, and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate.
