Position Overview

Title: Lecturer (9-Mo Non‑Tenure Track Faculty)

Primary

Purpose:

The Department of Applied Physiology, Health and Clinical Sciences (APHCS) offers interdisciplinary undergraduate and graduate programs including Exercise Science, Sports Analytics, Kinesiology, Athletic Training, Respiratory Therapy, and related specialties. This position supports the department’s instructional mission.
Open to All Candidates.

Responsibilities

• Teach two courses each semester (40% workload) in the undergraduate and/or graduate programs of the department. Courses may be delivered face‑to‑face, online, or hybrid.

• Provide 10% of workload toward unit service.

• Offer athletic training clinic coverage to Performing Arts and University Recreation (50% workload). Administer injury assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for 20 hours per week.

• Liaise with Student Health for referrals when appropriate.

• Track and monitor services to provide data‑driven feedback to units.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: Earned master’s and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline is preferred.
Preferred Education: Master’s degree in Athletic Training, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or a related discipline is required.
Certification: NATABOC certified and eligible for North Carolina licensure is required.
Experience: Experience teaching undergraduate or graduate courses in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Respiratory Therapy, or Sports Analytics at the university level is preferred. Clinical experience as a certified Athletic Trainer is required, and undergraduate student mentoring experience is preferred.
Technical

Skills:

Experience with learning management platforms and teaching strategies related to Anatomy & Physiology is preferred.

Licenses & Certifications

NATABOC certified and eligible for North Carolina licensure.

Background & Transcript Requirements

Hiring is subject to budget availability.
The selected candidate will be subject to a criminal background check and will be required to submit an official transcript of their highest earned degree.
