Schedule Details/Additional Information: Mon-Fri, with clinical responsibilities from 9am – 4pm. ½ day per week administrative time. 1 virtual day, if desired

Pay Range

$54.90 - $82.35

Bilingual Applicants highly encouraged. Oncology and Psych Health experience preferred.

  • Full-time, outpatient only opportunity that includes a combination of clinical and academic work
  • Conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for new patients with recommendations and treatment planning
  • Provide evidence-based psychotherapy for patients with cancer targeting a variety of concerns such as depression, anxiety, adjustment to illness, sleep disturbance, sexual health concerns, and health behavior change
  • Provide education to the supportive oncology department and associated training programs
  • Close collaboration with co-located multi-disciplinary psycho-oncology team (including internal medicine/psychiatry physicians, nursing, social work, psychotherapists) and co-located supportive oncology services (palliative care, integrative medicine, neuropsychology, PT/OT, physiatry, survivorship, spiritual care, nursing navigation)
  • Dedicated 1500 SF psycho-oncology clinic space with nurses station, dedicated office, and dedicated support staff
  • Opportunity for research, if desired, with access to comprehensive cancer center, multidisciplinary team, biostatistics, support services and resources through Wake Forest
  • Opportunity for programmatic development, if desired
  • Allotment for CE and conference travel
  • Schedule is Mon-Fri, with clinical responsibilities from 9am – 4pm. ½ day per week administrative time. 1 virtual day, if desired

Job Summary
  • This is a senior level position that provides behavioral health services to patients in an oncology setting. The primary responsibilities consist of psychological assessment for diagnostic purposes and direct treatment via individual, family and group psychotherapy.
Essential Functions
  • Demonstrates the ability to conduct assessments based on clinical interview, presenting information and clinical standards of program.
  • Demonstrates ability to formulate an appropriate diagnosis using standards established in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
  • Writes appropriate treatment plans according to patient diagnosis, age and clinical presentation.
  • Collaborates with appropriate guardians and collaborating providers to insure effective service delivery.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of various treatment modalities and theoretical applications based on current clinical standards.
  • Writes appropriate discharge plans based on individual needs of client and follows through with termination process.
  • Manages clients in crisis utilizing appropriate skills and assessment.
Physical Requirements

Works in a patient care area with potentially combative or self-destructive patients. Each employee has the responsibility to work in a safe manner. Work requires walking, standing, lifting, reaching, and handling of charts and supplies.

Education, Experience and Certifications
  • Doctoral Degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical or Health Psychology from an APA approved training program required
  • License eligible or currently licensed as a Licensed Practicing Psychologist from the N.C. State Board of Examiners of Practicing Psychologists required
  • BLS required per policy guidelines (training available by employer)
  • Experience with Health Psychology or Psycho-Oncology preferred but not required
