It’s in this spirit that we are actively seeking an Integrations Engineer to join our Workforce Benefits Division team in Charlotte, NC. Relocation assistance may be provided.

Pacific Life is building the future of Workforce Benefits. As we modernize and scale our quoting, enrollment, billing, and partner ecosystems, we’re expanding our Integration Engineering team with people who know how to design clean, resilient, cloud-ready integrations — regardless of the specific tool they’ve used in the past. Our APIs and data flows drive how employers enroll, manage, and support their people.

You’ll be part of a growing engineering team building the backbone of our digital ecosystem — and you’ll help define our integration standards for years to come.

While we currently leverage Mule Soft Anypoint Platform, we welcome strong integration engineers from any API/iPaaS background (Boomi, TIBCO, IBM App Connect, Apigee, Talend, Azure Integration Services, custom frameworks, etc.) who are excited to learn Mule Soft and help shape our integration platform.
** How You Will Make an Impact:
*** Design, build, and maintain modern integrations and APIs that connect Salesforce, Snowflake, MDM, administrative systems, partner platforms, and internal domains across Workforce Benefits.
* Develop reusable patterns, modules, and frameworks for APIs, transformations, event flows, error handling, and security.
* Engineer integrations across multiple styles: real-time APIs, batch interfaces, event-driven messaging, file-based patterns, and orchestrated workflows.
* Collaborate with product, architecture, engineering, QA, and partner vendors to deliver seamless cross-system connectivity.
* Help advance integration governance: versioning, lifecycle management, observability, performance tuning, and operational excellence.
* Contribute to CI/CD improvements, automated testing, quality gates, and Dev Ops maturity for integration pipelines.
* Provide technical leadership and mentor other engineers within the platform.
* Participate in Agile ceremonies and help continuously improve how we deliver integration value.
** The Experience You Will Bring:
*** Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
* 5+ years of experience in integration engineering or API development using any enterprise integration platform (iPaaS) or custom middleware framework.
* Strong grasp of API design, REST/SOAP, data formats (JSON, XML), transformation logic, and common patterns (orchestration, choreography, pub/sub, async queues).
* Solid understanding of security (OAuth2, JWT, mTLS), monitoring, and resiliency patterns.
* Experience connecting enterprise systems using APIs, messaging, ETL, streaming, or hybrid cloud integration models.
* Ability to analyze complex systems and build clean, maintainable integration workflows.
* Strong collaboration mindset — able to work with product owners, analysts, architects, and business partners in an Agile environment.
* Curiosity and willingness to learn Mule Soft if it’s new to you.
* Experience working in Agile development environments and using tools such as Azure Dev Ops or Jira
** What Will Make You Stand Out:
*** Hands-on experience with Mule Soft Anypoint Platform (API Manager, Runtime Manager, Data Weave).
* Experience with event/streaming platforms such as Kafka.
* Knowledge of insurance, group benefits, payroll, or financial-services domains.
* Cloud experience (AWS, Azure) and modern Dev Ops pipelines.
