Family Law Associate Attorney (Hands-On Litigation Experience)

Are you a young attorney looking to build real courtroom and client experience early in your career? Our boutique family law firm in Charlotte is seeking an associate attorney who wants to learn by doing and gain meaningful exposure to litigation, strategy, and client advocacy.

This role is ideal for an attorney who wants a strong foundation in family law and litigation before taking the next step in their legal career.

• Second-chair opportunities in active family law cases
• Direct involvement in court appearances, mediations, and hearings
• Hands-on case preparation instead of being siloed into one task
• Close collaboration and mentorship from lead counsel

• Assist as second chair on custody, support, and equitable distribution matters
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and settlement documents
• Prepare clients for hearings and court appearances
• Conduct legal research and assist with case strategy
• Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and the court

• 2–3 years of legal experience (family law or litigation preferred)
• Active North Carolina Bar license in good standing
• Strong writing and analytical skills
• Motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to gain courtroom experience
• Professional, composed, and client-focused

• Substantial practical experience early in your career
