ESFM is the corporate facilities management (FM) division of Compass Group USA. ESFM self-performs 80% of all FM services provided to clients, with a portfolio including Facilities Maintenance & Engineering, ESG Programming, Laboratory Support Services, Janitorial & Industrial Cleaning, Landscaping & Grounds Management, Workplace Solutions and Managed Services. Our clients span life sciences, technology, oil & gas, and manufacturing markets.

Job Summary

At the direction of the Facilities Director, the Janitorial Director will be responsible for leading janitorial operations, developing and implementing programs, and managing client expectations. This role supervises the performance of the maintenance and cleaning staff and coordinates with facilities leadership to ensure service quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensures the operation and maintenance of campus facilities cleaning and related services.
  • Schedules and directs routine and emergency cleaning tasks, and performs preventive maintenance for related equipment as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with electrical and building codes by adhering to requirements; advises Facilities Director on needed actions.
  • Maintains supplies inventory.
  • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and coordinating repairs.
  • Maintains cleaning and maintenance staff schedules and responsibilities.
  • Ensures health, safety, and environmental codes are followed in assigned areas.
  • Performs purchasing and reporting duties related to facilities services.
  • Participates in the development of short-term and long-term departmental goals and objectives.
  • Advises the Facilities Director in developing and implementing new policies or revisions to existing policies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or work experience equivalent required. BSME/BSEE/BSEM preferred.
  • Certifications in electrical, HVAC or plumbing are highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of central heating, cooling, and HVAC systems and their optimization.
  • Minimum of five years of experience with progressive levels of responsibility in energy audits and project management services, including scope development and reporting.
  • Experience in educational institutions is highly preferred.
  • Visionary leadership with strong management, planning and communications skills.
  • Ability to see inter-connections between operating units.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a quality attitude and public speaking ability.
  • Ability to multi-task, establish priorities and meet deadlines; maintain organization in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
