Work Schedule:

6:30 am - 3:30 pm Monday - Friday with occasional evening and weekend hours required as necessary, and with 'on-call' designation. This position is expected to adjust work schedule to work with Second Shift multiple times each semester.

Primary Purpose of Position

The Building Services Dayshift Supervisor is primarily responsible for overseeing housekeeping and building services operations within the Cone University Center. This role requires close collaboration with other Building Environmental Services supervisors and staff to ensure the facility is maintained to high departmental standards and delivers exceptional customer service. This position is also the primary supervisor responsible for the housekeeping services of the 49th Acre facility.

In addition to administrative and supervisory duties, this position serves as a working supervisor, actively assisting with tasks on the floor as needed. The supervisor coordinates with the Assistant Director and Coordinator to provide support for building event services as needed. They attend weekly operations meetings ensuring effective communication of building operations needs. Key responsibilities include planning and scheduling work, identifying and addressing training needs for first and second shift staff, assessing labor and material requirements, and maintaining adequate inventory levels.

Under the guidance of department leadership, the supervisor also contributes to identifying services and programs that best meet the needs of the university community. Additionally, they support housekeeping and building services activities across the broader Student Centers department as needed.

Minimum Education / Experience

Required

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from high school or possession of a GED, and one (1) year of experience in the area assigned; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Job Duties
  • Leads and supervises cleaning and upkeep of all building areas assigned inside the Cone University Center and designated perimeter outside, to the established high department standards. In addition to administrative and supervisory duties, this position serves as a working supervisor, actively assisting with tasks on the floor as needed.
  • Leads and supervises cleaning and housekeeping services for 49th Acre facility.
  • Oversees staff performance and directly performs advanced operations of equipment such as restorers, buffers, auto scrubbers, burnishers, ready‑space machines for maintaining floors, removing and reapplying finish, spot cleaning, extracting carpet, etc.
  • Ensures building is clean and well maintained for optimum customer satisfaction.
  • Listens and responds to customer needs promptly and respectfully.
  • Coordinates with Assistant Director, Operations Assistants and Coordinator on conference room cleaning before and after event set‑ups. Assists with room setups as needed.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with others in order to encourage and support communication and teamwork.
  • Establishes a culture of safety for employees and ensures that work processes are free from safety and health hazards, that employees are properly trained and that programs are in place to ensure safety; enforces all safety requirements for the position.
