Work Unit – Cone Univ Center.
Work Schedule:
6:30 am – 3:30 pm Monday – Friday with occasional evening and weekend hours; on‑call designation. Shift details: expected to adjust schedule to Second Shift multiple times each semester.
The Building Services Dayshift Supervisor is primarily responsible for overseeing housekeeping and building services operations within the Cone University Center. This role requires close collaboration with other Building Environmental Services supervisors and staff to maintain facilities to high departmental standards and deliver exceptional customer service. The supervisor also oversees housekeeping services of the 49th Acre facility, serves as a working supervisor, and assists with event services as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, schedule, and supervise cleaning and housekeeping services for the Cone University Center and the 49th Acre facility.
- Lead and supervise staff performance, providing training, coaching, and performance evaluation.
- Operate and oversee maintenance of cleaning equipment such as restorers, buffers, auto scrubbers, and burnishers.
- Ensure building cleanliness and customer satisfaction through prompt response to customer needs.
- Coordinate with the Assistant Director, Operations Assistants, and Coordinator on conference room cleaning before and after event set‑ups.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other department staff to encourage communication and teamwork.
- Establish and enforce a culture of safety, ensuring work processes are free from hazards and employees are properly trained.
- Plan and schedule work, assess labor and material requirements, and maintain adequate inventory levels.
- Organize routine schedules, provide on‑the‑job training, and oversee facility supply and equipment inventory controls.
- Keep accurate time/attendance records, approve non‑routine leave requests, and assist in the recruitment and selection process.
Minimum Qualifications
• Graduation from high school or possession of a GED, and one (1) year of experience in the area assigned; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

- Three to five years of housekeeping supervisory experience.
- Five to six years of general housekeeping and floor care experience, including operation of floor care equipment.
- Ability to perform medium to heavy lifting; previous room set‑up experience is a plus.
- Computer literate, willingness to learn new programs; experience with Microsoft Office software preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to foster teamwork and a positive work environment.
Where applicable, must be eligible for required certification.
