Position Overview

We are excited to launch a newly created blended Procurement Specialist role to strengthen our growing operations. In this pivotal position, you will help ensure the uninterrupted supply of virgin and recycled plastic resins and related raw materials, balancing cost, quality, and delivery performance. You’ll collaborate closely with suppliers, the materials team, and cross‑functional partners to keep our manufacturing lines running smoothly and efficiently.

What You’ll Do Place & Manage Orders
  • Run and review the item shortage report and other reorder/MRP‑style information. Issue timely purchase orders for raw materials and supplies in ERP and communicate/confirm them to vendors.
  • Plan, create, and process non‑MRP requirements into purchase orders based on plant needs.
  • Track status of purchase orders and ensure on‑time deliveries.
  • Maintain and update purchase order details in ERP system, close incomplete POs when necessary.
  • Weekly review of VMI stock levels at vendors and effectively communicate changes.
  • Analyze vendor invoices and billing details to ensure accuracy of raw materials delivered.
  • Process reclaim purchases and maintain provider on‑site and off‑site inventories.
  • Identify and build strong relationships with key suppliers.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, quality expectations, and delivery deadlines.
  • Communicate regularly with suppliers, schedule meetings, and coordinate projects as needed to address and resolve supply‑related issues.
  • Measure and track supplier performance based on cost, quality, deliverables, and service levels.
Quality & Process Coordination
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance for raw material inspections upon delivery.
  • Initiate corrective actions with vendors as necessary.
  • Participate in cycle counts and reconcile data discrepancies.
  • Work closely with internal teams to address any supply chain disruptions or material quality issues.
  • Assemble invoices, receivers, and purchase orders in the SharePoint system for vendor invoice approval.
  • Maintain fluency with cycle‑count procedures and results for back‑up purposes.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Work alongside finance, sales, operations, and logistics to resolve procurement issues and concerns.
  • Analyze market trends and supplier performance data to support procurement decisions and continuous improvement.
  • Assist with other projects or tasks as needed.
What You’ll Bring
  • 3+ years in procurement or supply chain, preferably in a manufacturing or plastics environment.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Flexible, detail‑oriented, and eager to grow in a newly created role.
  • Professional work ethics:

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, engineering, or a related field preferred.
